Postcard from Trinidad, Cuba
/Introduction
Want to get a feel for what a Cuban colonial town was like 200 years ago? Then Trinidad is for you. Mind you, lots of other people also like this idea so you'll have plenty of company. But don't let this put you off. Trinidad is well preserved, impressive and buzzing.
Trinidad was declared a World Heritage listed UNESCO site in 1988. The wealth of the town was built on the 19th century sugar industry. And the mansions and other grand buildings that date from that time are still very much in evidence today.
When you get a little tired from your street meanderings there are plenty of choices for chilling for a bit with a cold cerveza and a spot of people watching. And chances are some local buskers will provide you with a typical Cuban soundtrack.
